Massimiliano M. Corsi

Massimiliano M. CorsiMassimiliano M. Corsi, MD PhD, was born in Milan, Italy on June 25th 1966. He actually  is Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology  at the University of Milan, Italy  and Director of Biotechnological Applications Laboratory  at the Istituto Ortopedico “R.Galeazzi”, IRCCS Hospital. He received his MD degree (Honours) at the University of Milan and after training in Physiopathology he obtained his PhD at the University in Milan. He was trained in Experimental Endocrinology (Honours). He served as Assistant Professor of General Pathology (1996-2001) and later as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology (2001-2002) at the Institute of General Pathology, Medical Faculty, University of Milan. Post-doc  from 1995 to 1996 at Microbiology and Tumor Biology Center (MTC), Department of Cellular Immunology, Karolinska Institutet Stockholm Sweden. Visiting researcher  in 1997 at Institute of Cellular Pathology,  Universite Catholique de Louvain Brussel , Belgium. From 2006 he serves as chief of the Master in Clinical Immunopathology at University of Milan, Italy.
Professor Corsi’s major research interests  include clinical and applied immunopathology. In early studies he investigated regulation in lymphocytes. Later, he studied purine metabolism under ischemic and reperfusion conditions taking oxidative stress into consideration. His recent studies are related to laboratory medicine: he and his collaborators are investigating the biochemical and immunological effects in metabolic syndrome, cancer patients, chronic disease, and stroke. His scientifics interests are oriented mainly towards clinical biochemistry, clinical nutrition, sports medicine and orthopedic field, in fact most of his recent publications being on this topic.
He has published more than 120 scientific papers, 82 with Impact Factor.  He is author and co-author in more than 150 abstracts, and editor and co-editor in 5 books and proceedings.  He also serves on the editorial or advisory board for more that 10 Journals, including those published in USA, UK, or Italy.
Professor Corsi has  served in various professional organisations: recently he is on the board of the Italian Society of Clinical Pathologist.
He was also involved in the scientific organization of several Congress, Meetings and Courses, in Italy and  abroad.
